Iceland: One of the world´s most free economies
Iceland ranks fifth in the 2006 Index of Economic Freedom, published by Wall Street Journal and the World Heritage Foundation, achieving the same score as UK.
161 nation were evaluated for the 2006 Index. Hong Kong ranks #1, followed by Singapore, Ireland and Luxembourg. USA ranks #11, Canada #12 and Australia #9. At the bottom are North Korea, Iran and Burma (Myamnar).
The Index of Economic Freedom has been published annually for 12 years, using the most current data available on taxes, tariffs, banking regulations, monetary policies, the rule of law, and other insightful information.
